At a time where everything in the world seems so uncertain, with terror attacks, civil war and refugees flooding the news it’s good to take a step back and reflect on how fortunate we are to be fed, safe and warm. Though I was sad to spend the holiday away from family (and I really miss them this time of year), I am very thankful for the expat community we have and the friends we were able to celebrate with. This was our second thanksgiving in the UK, and the traditions formed by this expat community are a melding of many family’s traditions and recipes that have been transferred to a group celebration. We listened to the president’s Thanksgiving proclamation and eat dinner prepared by a British restaurant using American recipes. Surprisingly authentic and delicious!

So cheers, and I hope all you Thanksgiving celebraters enjoyed your fill of turkey and pumpkin pie!
