2 Years in England

This weekend marked my second expat-iversary. Two years of living, working and traveling abroad. Coincidentally, we marked it by going out to dinner with the newest expat couple in our area, who moved here last week and are still living in a hotel and waiting for their belongings to arrive. It’s hard to believe it’s been two years since we were in their shoes, overwhelmed with a new life and all the challenges that come with it. Trying to learn how to use the grocery store, the NHS and how to drive on the other side of the road. Planning our first European adventures to Ireland and Barcelona. We’re still planning holidays, but we’ve got booking flights and packing bags down to a science now… almost!  Our second year included lots of visits from friends and family and holidays ranging from a Scotland road trip to a Baltic Cruise and a weekend in Portugal Year three will include trips to Rome, Croatia and our first long distance walking holiday, more ambitious trips but I think they’ll be enjoyable.

It’s been an interesting year in politics as well, watching the Brexit vote and aftermath and now watching the US election from a distance. And it’s been an adventure planning our wedding from a few thousand miles away. So here’s to year three, another year of adventures and exploration!

What a wonderful and beautiful adventure for you both! As much as you are missed , it’s great to see how your lives have blossomed. we loved our visit to your beautiful “hometown” . Touring Scotland and the lakes with you , the seasoned travelers, was an epic trip for us.
