Rather than a bucket list, I’ve complied a “see while we are in Europe list” since we don’t have forever and there is so much to see! Honestly, if we decide to stay longer, it will be at least partially because our list keeps getting longer!
-Croatia – Plitvice National Park, Dubrovnik and the Dalmation Coast.
-skiing the alps (not particular about where!)
-Giant’s Causeway in Northern Ireland road trip!
-Greece- Athens and some beautiful islands
-Rome- because how could you not?
-Cinque Terre- cliffside towns, hiking and wine? Yes please.
-Russia- St Petersburg and Moscow. Hopefully will be partially accomplished with a Baltic cruise next summer!
-Norway-the fjords! (Visiting in July!)
-Iceland- a road trip around the ring road!
-Germany- Berlin and Munich (headed to Munich this summer!)
-Prague: there’s a Beer spa, ok? Haha.
-Scottish highlands/Isle of Skye
So right now, that’s what I’ve got. No guarantees it won’t get longer but that’s a good thing right?

Great list! I lived in Moscow for two years – not so perfect for living, but lots of history. Czech Republic – don’t just focus on Prague! The country is full of beautiful places! And Scotland – I fell in love with Edinburgh 🙂

I also love Edinburgh, headed there for the half marathon in a few weeks. I’ll have to look into Czech Republic a bit more, I’m sure it will convince me to do more than a city break! Living in Moscow must have been interesting! I’m hoping the political climate stays ok, otherwise Russia might be tough to visit.

Oh, don’t start me on politics!.. When you research CZ, look for Cesky Krumlov- all czechs say that this is the most beautiful town in the country.

Well, what I meant was the USA/Russia tensions could prevent a trip there, but hopefully not. I will definitely look it up!

In Finland there is so much to see, that You have no idea.

I love Croatia, but found Krka national park far more interesting than Plitvice. Dubrovnik is beautiful, as are the islands, and it’s fun to hang out in Split – great seafood, beaches and Roman palace. If you have time I also recommend Sarajevo and Mostar in Bosnia. Have a great time!

That sounds awesome! The biggest difficulty I’m having with planning a trip to Croatia is getting around, it seems really difficult to get from Dubrovnik to anywhere else. Any advice would be appreciated 🙂

Renting a car is the best advice I can give – I took the coach from Zadar to Dubrovnik once and it took 11 hours. One way to do it is to get a ferry from Split to Dubrovnik (or vice versa) via Korcula (the most beautiful island in the world). The ferries don’t go massively frequently though, and aren’t really an option on a short trip out of season (before end of May I seem to remember). Driving in Bosnia is a little challenging though, as all the signs are in Cyrillic!

Great list, I absolutely loved Athens and the Greek islands, and my advice would be to go in May, it’s just as warm as in the high season but much less crowded. And if you’re going to go to Rome you might want to add in Florence, everyone who I’ve ever talked to says its just much more charming. Good luck!

The Giant’s Causeway is just so cool, definitely worth it! And if you like to hike you’ll love the Scottish highlands.

Yes! Hiking Ben Nevis is definitely on my to do list. Along with visiting a lot of other places in the highlands as well.

Some great places on your list. If you manage to get to the Giant’s Causeway, make sure you also do the Carrick-a-rede Rope Bridge and the Bushmills Distillery Tour while you are in the area.
Iceland is gorgeous, I was lucky enough to do 3 weeks there on a School Trip at age 18, and then again 20 years later for a few days. These days the Blue Lagoon is a must see if you go, and some of the big waterfalls, and geysers.
We did the Norwegian Fjords on a cruise a couple of years ago – they are amazing, I hope you enjoy your trip in July.
And I have to sign off with a suggestion to add my home islands of Shetland to your list 😀

That bridge looks terrifying! But I’ll definitely put Bushmills on the list! I’ve been to the Blue Lagoon (and it was awesome!), last year we did a trip to Reykjavik, but I really want to see the rest of the island though, the icebergs and the puffins!
The Shetland Islands are on my boyfriend’s list already, he wants to see the Up Helly Aa festival at some point! and they look beautiful!

If you want to see puffins, Shetland also gets them when the come on land to breed. They’re only on land for about 3 weeks a year, so you have to time it correctly. There’s a puffin cam set up each year if you want to watch from afar over the Internet.

Great list – would love to see the fjords and Russia. Giants Causeway is great (but I’m biased) be sure to do the Causeway Coast Scenic Route – it passes the Giants Causeway but lots of other great places too like Carrick-a-Rede, Ballintoy, Fairhead, Cushendun. Our trip to Iceland was what started me off blogging and we had the most amazing time in the Cinque Terre last May – full of tourists but stunning, we hiked as much as possible but lots of trails were closed with landslides. Munich is fabulous too – I spent a year there as a foreign language student and loved every minute – looking forward to reading your experiences there!!

Going back a bit now but if you’re going in summer it should be all about the biergardens – they’re fabulous, I remember a good one at the Englischer Garten. Definitely visit a beer hall – Hofbrauhaus is touristy but fun and I remember we used to go to Augustinerkeller with some locals. Dachau isn’t a fun day out but memorable, Fussen and Neuschwanstein if you go a bit further out of the city are gorgeous and I remember taking the train a lot to Mittenwald – not far from Munich but in the Alps and stunning, I had a friend who worked there in a gorgeous little bar in the mountains. I’m jealous now, would love to be going back to Munich – about time we thought about it too!!

For skiing in the Alps, I would recommend Jungfrau Region in Switzerland. Stunning views & great slopes.

I’ve been to many of these places, like Iceland and Prague, lived in Russia and Switzerland among other places. All much fun. It’s a cool list of wishes, quite ambitious. As the other commenters mention, there is plenty to see in all of Europe. I would say try to stray a bit off the crowds every now and then, otherwise you might be in the places EVERYONE else is visiting at the time EVERYONE else is there. Places like Rome, Prague or even the Ben Nevis summit can be intolerabely crowded at times.

I definitely agree, that’s why we’re holding off on some of the bigger cities until the shoulder season or off season. A lot of the museums/city sights don’t require good weather so a winter visit is better. It’s nice to get a bit off the beaten path (and I’m hoping that’s what our trip to Norway this summer will be a bit of)

You’ll certainly be busy! I’d add Spain, in particular Barcelona, Seville and Granada. Worth it for the tapas alone!

We went to Barcelona in February, and I agree, the tapas were amazing! I would like to make it to Seville and Granada though, they’re supposed to be beautiful cities!
